The vineyard of Quinta do Arnozelo is situated on the southern bank of the Douro river, between the small towns of São João da Pesqueira and Vila Nova de Foz Côa. This is in the prestigious upper reaches of the Douro demarcated wine region, the aptly named Douro Superior. The Burmester Vintage Port 2020 is loaded with character and enormous ageing potential. From a fully declared year, this port is a blend of Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional, this is warm, lightly textured with minerality and touched by toastiness. The tannins are soft, already well integrated with the floral notes and black fruits.

Youthful straw colour with a vivid mousseux. Youthful nose, some gently toasted notes, crushed nuts, brioche, citrus, lime and lemongrass. Pure and vinous style with good purity and precision, a gentle creaminess, bright acidity and layers of fresh stone fruit with some autolytic complexity, and a long and lingering finish. This single-vineyard wine from the Pinhão Valley, is well constructed. Bold tannins and firm black fruits are tempered by the wine's broad texture and acidity. It needs plenty of aging

Gokyo Junmai Daiginjo Kintai is a premium, highly polished (often 50% or more) Yamaguchi sake, renowned for its elegant, delicate, and fruity flavor profile with notes of pear, melon, and floral aromas. It features a clean, soft water texture (from the Nishiki River) with a smooth, lingering finish, often described as a "hand-made gem"

Vallein Tercinier Cognac XO Greg is a highly matured Fine Champagne blend (Grande/Petite Champagne) aged for at least 35 years, far exceeding standard XO requirements. Bottled at 40% ABV, it is characterized by intense rancio notes, aromas of old leather, vanilla, and spices, with a smooth, honeyed, and long-lasting finish. 

Nose: Intense aromas of ripe red berries, black cherries, and hints of vanilla.

Taste: Rich and luscious flavors of raspberry jam, blackcurrant, and dark chocolate.

Palate: Velvety smooth with a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity, leading to a long and satisfying finish.

The color is a deep, dark, opaque black-purple. Aromas are of graphite, dark-plum & rich licorice. The palate is fresh with a concentrated licorice fruit. Then fine tannins have a slight greenish bite that is mouth-watering rather than particularly astringent. The mid-palate is medium to full bodied, dense, extracted & fairly subdued, with tary touches. The finish is long & structured but shows plenty of juicy cassis fruit.

The estate vineyard, this is dry-farmed and certified organic. Four-fifths of the 1986 planting went into this wine, with tart, wild berry and citrus flavors that penetrate deeply. A whiff of fresh peat moss rises from the glass and invites deeper exploration. These young wines all should benefit from a few more years of bottle age. Paul Gregutt

In the mouth this wine expresses notes of fleshy/juicy cassis, fleshy/juicy blackberry and small notes of fleshy raspberry associated with touches of blue fruits, cornflower as well as hints of caramelization, chocolate and bourbon vanilla. Good length.

The 2016 Palmer is a blend of 47% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot. Opaque garnet-purple colored, it slowly glides out of the glass with compelling notes of blueberry compote, warm cassis and kirsch with emerging hints of violets, cigar box, black tea, sandalwood and Sichuan pepper.

1x Château Margaux 1987/1999/2011

The Year of the Rabbit set from Château Margaux is limited to 100 sets, with each set independently numbered. The set comprises three bottles of Margaux from the Year of the Rabbit, namely 2011, 1999 and 1987. The wines have been stored in the Château Margaux cellars before release. The year 2011 was one of the most intense vintages that the winery has ever produced, and the wine is finally starting to show its full potential now; 1999 is one of the château’s favorite vintage for serving its guests; whereas the charming character of Margaux’s 1987 continues to emanate despite the difficult weather of the year.

Medium to full-bodied, the palate is packed with tightly knit, very subtle layers of minerals, floral notions and black and red berries, all framed by exquisitely ripe, silt-like tannins and fantastic freshness, finishing with epic length and depth.

The 2019 Château Haut-Brion Blanc is a more Sauvignon Blanc-dominated white that includes 36% Semillon. Its light gold hue is followed by a bright, racy Sauvignon nose of crushed limes, caramelized grapefruit, white flowers, and subtle minerality. It's incredibly pure, vibrant, and crystalline on the nose.

Once again, this wine is of first-growth quality, not only from an intellectual perspective, but in its hedonistic characteristics. More open-knit inaccessible than the 1996, Ducru's 1995 exhibits a saturated ruby/purple color folowed by knock-out nose of blueberry and black raspberry/cassis fruit intertwined with minerals, flowers, and subtle toasty new oak. Like its younger sibling, the wine possesses a sweet, rich mid-palate (from extract and ripeness, not sugar), layers of flavors good delineation and grip, but generally unobtrusive tannin and acidity. It is a classic, compelling example of Ducru Beaucaillou that should not be missed. Drink 2003-2025.
