This unique blend combines American rye, Canadian rye, and port to create a distinctive flavor profile. The palate offers a simple and sweet experience initially, reminiscent of fake maple syrup, with additional sweet vanilla flavors carried on a rather light body, akin to some rice whiskies.

Made with brown rice and finished in toasted barrels. Cereal grains with freeze-dried strawberries on the nose as well as toasted herbs, blueberries, and fruity bubble gum. The palate is creamy and light, with notes of strawberry yogurt, bitter chocolate, and burnt sugar. A syrupy finish brings custard, tiramisu, and caramel flan. It is atypical in its profile and at times light bodied, but demonstrates good constriction and drinkability.

The second batch of the 2022-release Benromach 40 Year Old has been carefully matured in sherry casks, resulting in a captivating array of aromas. This is rich in cask characters, with baked orange, pronounced nutmeg notes, mace, peppercorn, and petrichor. The opening flavors of dark orange and syrupy caramel swerve headlong into pepper, root ginger, allspice, and nippy clove. Despite appearances, this is not awash with sherry-dominated fruitiness, but the finish is long, with spice-led dried fruits.

There's no age statement on the label; that's intentional. The lore of this liquid is that it includes a small amount of the last bourbon ever produced at the iconic Stitzel-Weller distillery, which closed in 1992. (Diageo re-opened it in 2014.) This blend of straight bourbons offers vanilla on nose and palate, leading into almond and a hint of dried apricot. The finish is lively and relatively dry, with grapefruit peel, leather and chamomile tea. Overall, it's a light-handed and pleasing take, regardless of how much (or little) old/rare distillate is actually in the glass.

Aromas of cooked dark fruits, prunes, figs, raisin bread, and cola, with brighter red fruit notes and chocolate soufflé as it develops in the glass. The palate is lusciously full, with good depth and spice, gooey milk chocolate, and pepperoncini. Water fills out the flavors, bringing notes of Corn Chex, dusty oak, and bitter chocolate. Bowmore 15 Year Old is a prime example of a sherry cask finish, matured first in bourbon barrels and then for three years in Oloroso sherry casks.
