The nose is earthy, herbal and sour, like drinking an elegant cocktail on the porch of a cabin in the woods. The palate is instead full of cherries and plums and finishes salty and nutty, like an artisanal chocolate. The tannins are solid but navigable, and the acidity is substantial.

This second label for Dusty Nabor frequently amazes for the price point, and this bottling is a perfect example. Fresh, crystalline aromas of strawberry, cherry-raspberry jam and rose petals decorate the nose, while the energetic palate offers hibiscus and red fruit against an acid-powered structure.

Black raspberries, flowers, orange peel, licorice, mint, smoke, and cocoa fill the perfume. On the palate, the wine is packed with minerality, cocoa, plums, and black raspberries. with a lot of cut, refinement and salty tannins in the lifted, berry-filled finish. The wine blends 70% Merlot with 30% Cabernet Franc.

Pencil shavings and leather aromas mark the entry of this robustly full-bodied wine. It has a pronounced forest floor character, while blackberry and black cherry flavors combine with licorice and dark chocolate, filling out the richer notes that interweave throughout the palate, leading into a long finish.

Forward and a bit on the chunky side, with fruit flavors of raspberry and cherry, this ready-to-drink wine shows the more open and fruit-driven aspect of the vintage. Tasty highlights suggest chocolate-coated orange peels.

This Pinot comes from the Eola-Amity Hills AVA, now towards the south of Willamette Valley, harvesting around two to three weeks later than Dundee Hills for example. Biodynamically farmed since 2007, this vineyard is planted on its own roots and the wine sees around 25% whole bunches in the ferment. An interesting nose here, not nearly so buoyant and expressive as some, with a savoury, iodine, almost seaweed-herby character. The black fruit quality comes through on the palate - still savoury and dark, a little roasted chestnut note, firm and taut tannins and a cherry skin bite to the really quite salty, sour orange acidity, though a sweeter cherry flesh fruitiness does begin to assert, the whole picture structured, savoury and multi-faceted.

Medium-bodied, fresh, bright, crisp, forward, soft, subtle, red berry and mint filled wine that is made in a classic style.

Minty herbs, plums, tobacco leaf and cigar box in the nose introduce the medium-bodied, soft, silky, fresh and chalky red fruits oriented wine. This will be gorgeous to enjoy on release. The wine was produced from a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Fresh, vibrant and juicy with ripe, you find soft tannins and a blend of cassis and cranberry that is there from start to finish.

The nose puts cherries front and center, intertwined with roses with heavier tar and graphite, before umami flavors of mushroom, balsamic vinegar, seaweed and soy slowly emerge. On the chalky palate, dark chocolate pushes up against the showboating cherries before a kick of spice sets up a long, energetic finish.

Colour: very deep cherry. Nose: characterful, fruit preserve, scrubland, cocoa bean, dry stone. Palate: good structure, concentrated, long, balanced.

2019 Giacomo Borgogno & Figli Barolo Classico DOCG

Brilliant, flint ruby red. Earthy hints initially on the nose, carried by fine tea, plus resinous tones, again candied raspberry and rosehip, very seductive. On the palate polished and with a creamy fruit core, spreads excitingly, beautiful harmony, balanced, drinks very well, excellent success.
