WINE

Founded in 1911, Casaretti is considered one of the top producers in the Bardolino DOC. The 4th generation manages the estate of 13ha on the eastern shores of Lake Garda. Made with 70% Corvina, 20% Rondinella and 10% Molinara, it is a fresh and vibrant rose with hints of peach and roses. Drink young with white fish and risotto.

Pairs well with: Fish appetizers, white meat and fish risotto, in particular with crustaceans

Bodega Foster Lorca is a partnership of Enrique Foster and Mauricio Lorca located in Lujan de Coyo in Mendoza. The winery has been designed to produce Argentinean wines of great character with the guiding principle of producing wines that reflect Argentine terroir. Made using traditional Charmat method, the Lois was left sur lie for six months to combine a complex style with freshness redolent of cherries bursting from the tiny bubbles.

Its robe is soft, with discreet copper glints and lively fine bubbles. The bouquet is rich and intense in cauldron-cooked small red and black fruits, biscuits and pastry aromas. A very lovely attack on the palate which subsequently reveals its suppleness, fruitiness and vivacity in terms of fine and full-bodied tannins. This is a tender and structured cuvee.

The Rosé Dolorès is best enjoyed as a fresh and light aperitif on a beautiful sunny day. It is also perfect for sweet dishes such as seasonal red fruit tarts with lemon zests, or a red fruit salad with mint served with a generous slice of a flaky brioche. A touch of elegance that is pleasing to everyone.

On the nose, it has aromas of dark fruit, vanilla, and spice, while on the palate, it is full-bodied with flavors of black cherry, plum, and tobacco. The tannins are firm and well-structured, providing a long and elegant finish. This wine is a perfect pairing for hearty meat dishes, such as grilled steak or roasted lamb.

The Ricasoli Ceniprimo Chianti Classico is a red wine made from Sangiovese grapes grown in the Chianti Classico region of Tuscany, Italy. It has a deep ruby color and aromas of ripe red fruit, black cherry, and a hint of spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied with a balanced acidity and tannins, and flavors of cherry, plum, and a touch of vanilla. The finish is long and persistent, with a pleasant aftertaste of fruit and spice. This wine is perfect to pair with grilled meats, pasta dishes, and aged cheeses.

Translucent, pale pink. Elegant with floral, fruity, herbaceous aromas such as white flowers, berries, red currant, nectarine, apricot, lychee, melon, gentle touch of white pepper. Dry, medium acidity, low tannin, medium body. Delicate flavors influence the aromas, resulting in a long finish. Drink it now, have fun with your celebrations!

Intense purple colour, hints in the scent of red fruit and spices one of which, black pepper, stands out. In the mouth it is pleasant tasting, mineral, nervous with intense and characteristic tannins.

The winery of Ippolito is the oldest in Calabria, the "toe of Italy's boot - located in the Ciro DOC, this wine was produced to celebrate 160 years of winemaking. Made from 100% Gaglioppo, the grapes are air dried, followed by a long maceration on the skins to give increased concentration and structure. Full bodied with aromas of berries, violets, raisins and sweet spices, it's complex with a pleasantly long finish. Cabernet lovers will love this wine!

La Palazzetta Visconti is located on the south-east side of Montalcino, farming 20 ha organically. Mild winters, hot summers and humid springs and autumns help to create bright coloured, fragrant wines with juicy acidity. This little Rosso is the perfect quaffer with notes of
violet, cherry, and plum. The tannins are ripe and soft, leading into a long finish.

Neil Ellis is considered to be one of the most influencial pioneers of modern day winemaking in South Africa. The Syrah grapes from the Groenekloof vineyard were handpicked from low yielding bush vines. They produce a medium bodied wine with vibrant colours. The aroma is full of enticing dark fruit with contributing spicy undertones. There are lingering savoury notes in the long finish, accentuated by fine, elegant tannins. For the price, this is an excellent Syrah.

The Rosch family represents three generations of winemaking in the Mosel. Their land is 8.5ha of Riesling grown on mostly slate soils. With the cool climate, the grapes ripen later, then only natural yeasts are used which aid to express the terroir of the Mosel. The term "feinherb" is referred to as off-dry and with 19 g/L of residual sugar, the wine has aromas of apricots and peaches to match the racy acidity. A refreshing, harmonious wine with Drinkflusse(a nicer way of saying highly quaffable).

Three generations of winemaking in the Valdobbiadene hills, they farm organically and sustainably. "Particella" refers to Parcel and allows the family to showcase fruit from different "rive", obtained from the steepest and most suitable vineyards with grapes from a single municipality, to enhance the characteristics and showcase the terroir. Elegant perlage with a creamy foam, yet high acidity and minerality. Ripe white peaches with mineral and floral notes. Fascinating!

The vineyard is planted with the Sauvignon grape (75%), which provides the fruit, the aroma and freshness to the wine, whilst the other grape variety, the Semillon (25%), imparts roundness and finesse to this fine wine. M. de Malle Graves is a complex and well-structured wine that will benefit from some additional aging in the bottle, but is also enjoyable to drink now. 

Not just Barolo, but single vineyard Barolo which makes these wines even more special. The typical flavours of roses and dried cherries is evident in this powerful Nebbiolo and of course these wines will age for decades, into 2040. On the nose, the wine exhibits rich, intense aromas of red fruits, such as cherries and raspberries, alongside hints of licorice, tobacco, and leather. On the palate, it is full-bodied with firm tannins, a great structure, and a long, persistent finish. The wine has a complex flavor profile that includes dark berries, plums, and black pepper, with subtle hints of vanilla and spice. The oak aging process adds a layer of complexity and depth to the wine, while the high acidity gives it a vibrant freshness. This is a well-balanced wine that showcases the elegance and power of the Barolo region. It can be enjoyed now or aged for several years to come.

It has a beautiful light pink color with aromas of fresh strawberries, raspberries, and white flowers. On the palate, the wine is crisp and refreshing with bright acidity and flavors of red fruits, citrus, and a hint of minerality. The finish is long and clean, leaving a pleasant and lingering aftertaste. It's a perfect wine for warm summer days and pairs well with seafood, salads, and light pasta dishes.

The FAY Cabernet Sauvignon displays vibrant red fruit fragrances accompanied by hints of black tea, olive, and baking spices. It features a harmonious texture that is well-balanced, and the mid-palate boasts a pleasant concentration of berry fruit that culminates in a finish of cinnamon and spices. This vintage is more opulent than previous ones, which is typical of the year's characteristics.

The Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 is a rich and elegant wine with a deep ruby-red color. On the nose, it displays aromas of black fruits, such as blackcurrants, blackberries, and cassis, along with subtle hints of tobacco, vanilla, and chocolate. The palate is full-bodied, with firm tannins and a long, persistent finish. The fruit flavors are complemented by spicy notes of pepper and cinnamon, as well as a touch of oak that adds complexity and structure to the wine. Overall, this is a well-balanced and flavorful Cabernet Sauvignon that can be enjoyed now or aged for several years.

This 100% Timorasso is native to the Tortona area in Piemonte. The ancient name is Derthona and often seen on the labels. Before nearing extinction, this grape was brought back to life by Walter Massa, knowing there was great potential. The grape ages remarkably well and will resemble a dry Riesling with five years of age or more. This single vineyard of Costa del Vento shows aromas and flavours of white flowers, stone fruits, and bright citrus. It will always have high acidity and be voluptuous. These wines can sometimes border on feeling "alcoholic" so chill to temper and decant for best tasting experience.

This powerful "Super Tuscan" is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. Located in the heart of Chianti Classico, the passion for Bordeaux and its wines was the inspiration for creating these blends. Careful grape selection, ageing in French barrique and sure lie, gives these wines depth of character and rich and exotic textures. In the bottle you will find notes of blackberry, cassis, plum and violet wrapped up in spice, leather, and cedar. Decant for optimal experience or lay down for a few years. Stunning wine.

The region of Gavi is home to the Cortese grape. The philosophy of the farm is to ensure the vines are farmed without any use of chemicals. Only healthy and carefully selected grapes are gently pressed. This wine offers a particularly fine mineral feeling and notes of fruit and white flowers. From one of the three oldest families of Italy, spanning 26 generations, one of their luxury brands, Solaia is located on the sunniest slope of the Tignanello vineyard. Here, the best grapes of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Sangiovese, and 10% Cabernet Franc make this aromatic, complex wine with notes of raspberries and mulberries with additional, distinct notes of coffee beans, chocolate, and licorice. Albert Bichot is a five-generation family-owned property having owned land in Burgundy's Cote d'Or since the 1830's. The current owner, Alberic Bichot is respectful of his family's traditions yet entirely focused on the future: converting to organic viticulture, adapting to new markets, increasing exposure to Burgundy wines, and much more. The vineyards now total six estates from Chablis in the north to Beaujolais in the south.
This white wine is 100% Chardonnay grapes grown in the prestigious Charlemagne vineyard in the village of Aloxe-Corton of Burgundy. The nose is intense with notes of lemon curd, citrus pith, nutmeg and rich, nutty complexity. The palate is mouth-filling with balanced acidity and a spicy, smooth, long finish. This white wine will only get better with age. Pair with cauliflower puree, braised fennel and sea scallops.

Organic

Cottà Barbaresco DOCG has liquorice notes and a light touch of smokiness. Dried roses dominate the floral scents. It remains delicate in the mouth and, yet, with plenty of aromatic persistence and well balanced tannins.

The Giovanni Almondo Arneis Vigne Sparse is a great entry into the joys of Arneis, one of the most important white varieties in the Roero. Clean and sharp flavors of white pepper, almond, under-ripe pear and mineral-driven citrus blend into a finish loaded with energy and sparked by a salivating finish.

The Contra Soarda Gaggion Marzemino Nero is a delicious red wine from the Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol region of Italy. Made entirely from the Marzemino Nero grape variety, it boasts a beautiful ruby color and offers aromas of cherry, blackberry, and spices on the nose. On the palate, it is dry, medium-bodied, and well-structured, with flavors of dark fruit, tobacco, and a hint of vanilla. The tannins are firm but well-integrated, leading to a long and satisfying finish.

Canella is a third-generation winery located in the hills of Conegliano in the Veneto region. It was they who pioneered the rise of Prosecco to the popularity it is today. The Puccini cocktail has been inspired by the famous opera composer Giacomo Puccini, born in Lucca, which is located close to the winery. It is a blend of Prosecco, Sicilian mandarin orange juice, and a hint of ginger, to create this refreshing ready-to-drink beverage.

Located in Chiaramonte, Sicily where this land is known for growing Nero D’Avola, the grape, also known as Calabrese has found its natural home here on this island. What makes Gulfi special is regional area of Pachino, the coastal, sandy terroir where Nero d’Avola has adapted very well. Only steps from the Mediterranean Sea, these vineyards thrive in the heat and grow grapes that produce world-class wines. The Catania family will tell you this is a “grand cru” and with several single vineyard sites within Pachino, Nero d’Avola can show great nuances.  Ageable and collectible, these are worth having in any wine cellar.

Gulfi is a family-owned winery located in southern Sicily, with grand cru vineyards located in Pachino: 100% Nero d’Avola that grows in sandy soil close to the sea and has adapted to the hot climate. Here, the resulting wines are complex and elegant, and the benchmark for what these wines should taste like. Undoubtedly, one of the world’s greatest wine estates and producers of Nero d’Avola. Although one might think the wines taste the same, each single vineyard or ‘cru’ showcases the great terroir of Pachino and the subtleties of each area. 

Buffaleffj is a 3ha site with a unique soil mix of black clay, white limestone, and red sand. The wine has concentrated black cherry and blackberry notes, roasted eggplant, and spice. Even though the climate here is very hot, the wine maintains its acidity, yet with a velvety palate of blackberries and sour cherries, with mineral and herbal complexity that leads to a long and sumptuous finish.

Roeno Pinot Grigio Tera Alta is a white wine produced by the Roeno winery located in the Vallagarina Valley of Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy. This wine is made from 100% Pinot Grigio grape variety, which is grown on the winery's estate vineyards.

On the nose, this wine has a bouquet of white flowers, citrus fruits, and green apple, with a subtle minerality. On the palate, it is fresh and well-balanced, with crisp acidity and a long finish. The flavors of citrus fruits and green apple are dominant, with a hint of peach and apricot.

The CASK 23 combines the signature perfume notes of FAY vineyard with the structure and dark fruit of S.L.V. Fragrant and fresh aromas of red and black currant, black tea, anise and nutmeg fill the nose. The wine has a vibrant mouthfeel with savory and velvety tannins along with blackberry and currant flavors. This is an elegant, flavorful vintage of CASK 23 with integrated oak, refined tannins and a lasting aftertaste.

For lovers of Nebbiolo (Barolo and Barbaresco) try Etna Rosso. Made with Nerello Mascalese grown on the slopes of Mt. Etna in Sicily, these wines are light in colour with the sensual aromas of cherries, cinnamon, dust and Italian herbs, but with those same high tannins and acidity Nebbiolo is known for.

Roeno Enantio Valdadige is a red wine produced by the Roeno winery located in the Valdadige DOC region of Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy. This wine is made from the Enantio grape variety, which is grown on the winery's estate vineyards and undergoes a maceration process with the skins for about 12 days.

On the nose, this wine has intense aromas of red berries, with hints of spice and licorice. On the palate, it is full-bodied, with a good balance of acidity and tannins. Flavors of red currant, black cherry, and a hint of tobacco are present, with a long and persistent finish.

Massolino Moscato d'Asti is a sweet sparkling wine produced from the Piedmont region of Italy. Renato Ratti Barolo DOCG Marcenasco is a classic expression of the Nebbiolo grape grown in the Barolo subregion of Piedmont, Italy. This wine offers aromas of ripe red fruit, violet, licorice, and tobacco, with a touch of leather and earth. On the palate, it is full-bodied and complex, with fine tannins and a long finish. This wine can be cellared for up to 20 years, but it is also enjoyable now!

Sottimano is a family-run winery in the Barbaresco zone of Piedmont, Italy. The 2018 vintage of their single-vineyard Pajore Barbaresco is a beautiful expression of Nebbiolo, with aromas of red berries, rose petals, and tar. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and structured, with firm tannins and a long finish. This wine is still quite young and will benefit from some additional bottle aging, but it has already received high scores from wine critics, with Antonio Galloni of Vinous awarding it a score of 96/100.

Tenuta Scuotto's Greco di Tufo DOCG is a crisp and refreshing white wine with a bright straw yellow colour. The nose is intense and floral, with notes of white peach, yellow apple, and acacia flowers. It is fresh and lively on the palate, with a mineral backbone and ripe stone fruit and citrus flavours. The wine is well-structured with a balanced acidity, making it an excellent pairing for seafood dishes, grilled vegetables, and light pasta dishes. The grapes are handpicked and fermented in stainless steel tanks, with a short maceration period to preserve the wine's delicate aromas and flavours. Overall, this Greco di Tufo represents the Campania region's unique terroir and winemaking traditions.

Teroldego is the most important red grape of Trentino in Northern Italy. Dark coloured and concentrated, this is a fruity wine, yet softly tannic and Albertans would love it! Try this as an alternative to Cabernet Sauvignon.

Edda (‘she’ in Salento dialect) is the feminine and sensual soul of San Marzano. It is a complex white wine, full of Mediterranean notes. Noticeable acidity intertwined with an enveloping and elegant warmth, savoury and mineral notes on the palate. The Chardonnay grapes give the wine finesse and longevity, together with different varieties indigenous to Puglia, that year after year compete to complement the blend.
